Exonucleophagy is the absorption of the neutrophil nucleus by the amoeba Entamoeba gingivalis during chronic and aggressive periodontitis. This phenomenon leaves enucleated white blood cells out of control in the biofilm of the infected gingiva and is at the origin of bone tissue destruction.
