Dern Kala Dern kala or Walking with coconut shells[1] The previous generations usually spent their free time on walking with Coconut shells game because the shells can be easily found everywhere. Walking on that shell as Beginners will feel sore feet because of the curvature and hardness of the shell. However, the pain will disappear if you practice often, strengthens the muscles in the feet and also massage the soles of the feet. In addition, players will train in matters of balance (in itself) as well. People who maintain a balanced body are well balanced and often reach the finish line first.

Equipment[edit]

1. 2 coconut shells per player 2. A rope about 1 meter long per player

Method[edit]

1.Clean the shells. 2.Drill a hole in the middle of the shells for rope. 3.Tie the rope tightly to prevent loosen rope while walking.

Rules of play[edit]

In the competition, anyone who walks fast and without falling will be the winner. If playing alone, children will use their imagination to play such as assuming to ride a horse or walk with high heels, etc.

How to play[edit]

  1. Marked the finish line by 3 meters or 5 meters from the starting point or as agreed.
  2. Players must stand on a bowl which is placed in upside down position on both sides.
  3. To hold the rope with your big toe and index finger.
  4. Handle the rope with comfortable to pull.
  5. Start playing by having everyone walk from the starting point, those who reach the finish line first will be the winner.

Benefit from playing[edit]

For fun, reinforce unity among the group and is a practice of balance which can improve physical strength.On the other hand, playing alone can be known as another fun way to exercise by walking in the garden.[2]
