Contributor based in the UK, interested in all kinds of subjects, but mostly Shakespeare authorship question (SAQ) at the moment. I take a fairly agnostic approach, but my favoured candidate is the present incumbent, William of Stratford, because the evidence for him is reasonably plain, even if there isn't a lot of it. With the others, claims rest on perverse interpretations of otherwise straightforward material. I also favour him for another, more idiosyncratic reason. He's the one about whom we know the least, character-wise. And the less you know about an author, the better, in my view. Then the work has to speak for itself, unmodified by external referents that can only mislead.
