Qtracker is a freeware game server browser targeted at gamers, specifically hardcore gamers. It was released for Microsoft Windows in October 1997[2] by software developer Ron Mercer.

History[edit]

Qtracker development started in 1996 by Ron Mercer to allow remote monitoring of Quake 1 clan matches. This permitted clan members not competing in the match to remotely observe the match as it progressed. Team score summaries were provided, in addition to individual player scores, allowing clans to easily see which team was winning at any given moment.

Features[edit]

Customizable Interface[edit]

Advanced Filtering[edit]

Both client-side and server-side filtering is supported.

Region Filtering[edit]

Game servers are assigned to one of over 400 geographic regions across the globe.

By specifying which regions to include, server listings will be filtered server side, reducing the number of game servers that must be queried and pinged by the users computer. Some games have excessively high game server counts, which makes region filtering even more critical, for example: Call of Duty 4 has over 16,000 game servers[3], Counter-Strike:Source has over 30,000 game servers[4].
