The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle and Rescue and Rehabilitation Center[edit]
The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center was opened for the public on November 7th, 2013, but was originally named The Topsoil Turtle Project.[1] Karen Beasley and her mom were on vacation and saw sea turtles on the beach, so they helped the turtles there. When Karen was 29 she died of blood cancer (Leukemia), she told her mom to take her money and “Do something nice for the turtles”, and that’s exactly what she did.[2] Karen’s mom, Jean Beasley founded The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in North Carolina.[3] The center takes in permanent and temporary residents to treat and take care of, people can visit the Sea Turtles when the center is open.[4] The center is run on volunteers that are dedicated to serving the injured/ill sea turtle. People can donate and shop online or at the center in North Carolina when open.Donate Here
