Thom Kolton is an entrepreneur and linguist, and part owner of About Language Inc.[1], a translation and interpretation agency headquartered in Roseville, Michigan (a suburb of Detroit) and with a branch office in Baltimore, Maryland. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French literature from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

In addition to languages, Thom is interested in Slavic history, particularly that which pertains to the Ruthenian history and culture[2]. In June 2012, he attended a three-week course in Carpathian-Rus history and language in the city of Prešov.

After living for three years in the historic city of Krakow, Poland (2008 - 2011), Thom moved to his ancestral village of Osturňa, Slovakia, where he purchased a dilapidated wooden house in which his grandmother had been born. No work has yet been performed to renovate the building, although other infrastructure work has been completed.

In April, 2014, Thom took possession of the only hotel in the village. Renamed Penzión Európa, the hotel reopened its doors in July 2016 to rave reviews. It is unlikely, however, that he will ever recoup the money he invested in the establishment.
