Wikiadvertising is where a someone uses Wikilove as a means of getting your point across.

Why?[edit]

Wikilove is a way of showing thanks to another user for doing something. This may include Barnstars. However, some users think that the only way to show their point is to give you a nice shiny trophy and say "Here, buy my product". This is obviously not what Wikilove is intended for and so Wikilove shouldn't really be used for this purpose.

In the example above, I was dealing with a user who had made several vandalistic and Advertising Edits. I had asked them on their user page to stop and they proceeded to use Wikilove to advertise their brand on my user page. This however an extreme case and doesn't occur very often.

What Should I Do?[edit]

If someone tries to use Wikilove to persuade you to do something, just ignore it. However, this shouldn't be mistaken for ACTUAL Wikilove that's given to you as a way of saying thanks.
