Eric Eskola is a journalist and television personality well known for his coverage of the Minnesota political scene.
Eskola has co-hosted the premier political/public affairs show in Minnesota, Almanac, since 1986.[1] He was promoted from the sports desk after the death of the original co-host, Judge Joe Summers.[2] Eskola also spent thirty years as a political reporter for WCCO Radio in Minneapolis, but took an early retirement payout in 2010.[3] He is widely regarded as one of the most influential political reporters in Minnesota.[4]
Eskola is originally from Duluth, Minnesota, and graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth.[5] His wife, Cathy Wurzer, joined him as Almanac co-host in 1994.[1] He is known for his quirky personality exemplified by his messy former office at the capitol, vast collection of scarves, and love of professional wrestling.[6] [5]
Eskola was inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame in October 2010,[6] and has also been awarded the Frank Premack "Graven Award" for contributions to journalism.[1]
