Bridging Chipsets are used to adapt extrenal SATA hard drives to Firewire, USB, etc. The choice of bridging chipset is of notable importance when choosing an external storage device.[1] Some chipsets provide faster interfaces, while others are slower, and some can have interface problems and cause errors.
