Tomas Derner

Tomas Derner is a talented and award-winning photographer from the Czech Republic who is currently living in Munich with his wife Veronika. Born in 1983, he has made a name for himself in the photography world for his documentary work, which has earned him numerous prestigious awards and recognition. One of his most notable accomplishments is winning the best travel series of the year in 2022 from the prestigious Monovision Award. Tomas is the founder of Tdernux-Photography. Studied Environment and Ecology at the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyne in the Czech Republic. Growing up on a farm in the Eastern part of the Czech Republic, Tomas always felt that there was more to the world than what he saw. He believes that sharpness, accurate colors, or perfectly straight lines do not make a perfect picture and that the most impressive pictures have imperfections that make them special.

In his own words, photography is one of the biggest passions of his life, and he carries his camera everywhere he goes. He enjoys shooting with his Fujifilm camera because it is a physical and mechanical experience, but at the same time he believes that creating pictures is not about the gear. He is dedicated to constantly learning and improving, and his passion for photography continues to drive him to create exceptional and meaningful work.
