Cultural Background[edit]

Growing up between France and Lebanon in the East, and receiving my education from a French Jesuit school, I was heavily influenced by the pop culture-infused 80’s. I spent my childhood listening to the radio and watching television, switching back and forth between Arabic songs on the national radio and 80’s French hits. This exposure to both Eastern and Western cultures developed within me a slightly bipolar approach to art making that rests somewhere between two cultures. This plethora of cultural exposure created a hybrid ground that lends itself to an unorthodox, critical and self-reflective approach to life. For this reason, I fuse this approach to life into my academic work, photography and arts.
