Tripmynd is an American rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, currently consisting of Joe Boccelli, Marc Pugliese, Andy "Buck" Antczak and Nick Alenskis. Their music is most often classed as Alternative Metal, Nu Metal and/or Hard Rock

History

[edit]

Tripmynd began to form in mid 2006 by former “Instill” band mates, guitarist Marc Pugliese and bassist Andy Antczak, with the desire to create a high energy sound and get away from the "repetitive" music often heard in the Boston scene. Marc, who had just left the Boston based band Escape To Everything, was looking for something different. After auditioning for a few bands he crossed paths with old friend Andy Antczak, when the two coincidently found out they had auditioned for the same band. Upon finding this out Marc called up Andy and expressed his desire to ditch joining a band and start a brand new band from scratch. Upon plugging in and playing together for the first time in years, the two both knew that had found what they were looking for. After writing 5 songs and several drummer auditions they enlisted drummer Chuck Harnden. Vocalist Joe Boccelli of the local hard rock heavyweight “Visional” auditioned and was gladly accepted into the fold

The Name

After going several months without having a name, Marc and Andy started to write a bunch of different names on a dry erase board. Several band names were accepted and dismissed. After looking at one of the names the guys had written on the board, “Mindtrip”, Marc reversed the name and came up with Tripmind. Fearing there might already be a band with that name, he changed the last I to a Y and thus came the name Tripmynd.

Threshold

After perfecting the first batch of songs Tripmynd entered the studio on March 3rd 2007 with local producer Doug Batchelder to record Dead End, Lesson Learned, The Design, Sunless and …That You Are. The guys entered the studio again on August 11th 2007 to finish recording the remaining six tracks, which completed the recording for Threshold. Marc and Joe flew down to Miami Florida in November of 2007 to have the tracks mastered at Fullersound Inc by Grammy award winning Mastering Engineer Michael Fuller. Threshold was released on March 8th 2008 to a sell out crowd at Bill’s Bar in Boston MA.

In April 2008 drummer Chuck Harnden and Tripmynd decided it was best for both to part ways. Former Product 62 drummer RJ McKinley filled in on drumming duties for the band’s next few shows. After several drummer auditions the band enlisted rock/jazz drummer Nick Alenskis as their new drummer

2007 Haverhill Rocks Battle Of The Bands Winners

After competing against over 30 local bands Tripmynd played with the top 7 finalists, determined by online voting, on August 16th 2008. Tripmynd was voted # 1 by a panel of judges and took home $1000 and the opportunity to record a music video, which they’ve still yet to use.

New EP/Album

The guys re-entered the Studio on May 22nd, 2009 to record three new tracks, World On Fire, Prismatic and Almost Doesn’t Count. Still in search for the right management company and ultimately a record label, the band planed on mixing and mastering the three new 3 songs and releasing them as an EP with the ultimate goal of releasing a new album sometime in 2010.

Indefinite Hiatus

After 4 + years together all 4 members decided they wanted to go on to do other things, including drummer Nick Alenskis joining the U.S. Army. The band played their last show on September 10, 2010 to a sellout crowd at Sammy's Patio in Revere Massachusetts. They all agreed to do a reunion show when the times is right and still have 2 newer recorded songs that will hopefully see the day of light, at some point.
