Christopher Hoadley is an associate professor of Information Sciences and Technology and an associate Professor of Learning and Performance Systems at Penn State University. Hoadley is widely known among educational researchers,- especially in the area of collaborative technologies and computer support for cooperative learning (CSCL).He was the founding President for International Society of the Learning Sciences, and also chaired the American Educational Research Association's Special Interest Group for Education in Science and Technology.
Background
[edit]Hoadley received a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science from MIT and a Doctor of Philosophy in Graduate Group in Science and Mathematics Education from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining IST at Penn State University,Hoadley was a research cognitive and computer scientist at the Center for Technology in Learning at SRI International and a consulting assistant professor of learning, design, and technology at Stanford University.

[edit]Hoadley explores the various ways computer technology can be used to improve how and what children learn in the classroom, how design-based research allowed the deliberate evolution of a set of tools and practices to help students collaborate effectively. Hoadley founded the Center for Innovative Learning Technologies Knowledge Network (CILTKN)at SRI International. He authored the The CILT Knowledge Network, which is now running at the LESTER site at Rice University.
Mountain Project
[edit]Hoadley starts the Mountain Project,a research, outreach, and educational project, to help foster and study environmental education
and sustainable living in the Himalayas through technology-supported village-to-village communication and ecosystems-based educational activities in local schools and community centers. Mountain project is funded by Uttarakhand environmental Education Center(India) and World Wide Fund for Nature Nepal.
