Midtown Village is a mixed-use development located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA. Midtown Village consists of condominium complex, retail stores, and small park. The complex was developed in the heart of the commercial center of the city, near intersection of 15th Street and McFarland Boulevard (one of the the busiest in the city), in an area that had previously been a residential neighborhood. Midtown was first proposed by local real estate developer Stan Pate. Pate had been slowly acquiring property in the eastern edge of the Forrest Lake neighborhood of Tuscaloosa and demolishing the existing structures in preparation for the development. Pate's methods drew opposition from the Forrest Lake Neighborhood Association and certain members of the City Council. After a prolonged fight, which include Pate filing an ethics complaint against the city council, Pate sold the development to a Texas real estate developer, Cypress Equities. Opened in 2008, the shopping center is anchored by Best Buy and Barnes & Noble.
