Cheyenne Madden is a freshman women's basketball player at the University of Pikeville. I've pretty much always used basketball as my out and couldn't imagine my life without it. I've had a pretty great first year here at Upike but here of late I've been facing allot of adversity because my mother has been sick, and its really hard to be hours away from family when they need you the most. I hoping that after I have completed my first year of college and get to go back home that everything will be better. But at this point im going to college and striving to be a better person to make my mom happy I will never forget the day I sighed to play basketball at the University of Pikeville and how happy that made her, it was such a big accomplishment mean being the first person in my family to play a college sport or even attend college right after high school.

I've had to overcome allot of things in my life like the fact that my family hated my relationship choice, the way I dressed, and that I didn't have the same dreams and aspirations as them. But now that I am a fulltime college athlete at Upike my parents and family seem to be coming around a little. I think that me coming from a small in the mountains of Kentucky is what made it so hard on my parents. But now being the young women that I am I look back on my high school and middle school days and realize that my parents and the rest of my family was just trying to look out for me, and now knowing this is what has giving me the motivation that I need to stay in school and make my parents proud of the daughter that they have raised.
