Karmaloop.com(LLC) is a website where Urban streetwear for both men and women has been sold since 1999. Karmaloop was started by founder/Chief Executive Officer Greg Selkoe. Karmaloop.com is described as a "community of style" with a different type of buyer and seller relationship. It has survived the dot com crash and continues to bloom with many new clothing brands on the site. Karmaloop.com also has underground clothing brands that aren't sold anywhere but on its website or at its retail store Karmaloop Boston, located at 160 Newbury St. in Boston, Mass.

History of Karmaloop

[edit]

Karmaloop was started in 1999 by Greg Selkoe, 32. Selkoe started off with one computer and his parents' basement as a warehouse. Orders were sent in shopping bags to the post office. Selkoe was kicked out of high school, and he later attended a boarding school to finish his education. He then furthered his education by going to Harvard's Kennedy School of Government to get his degree in public policy. Now the Chief Executive Officer of Karmaloop, Selkoe and his wife Dina Selkoe are the co-owners of the company. In the 2008, the Karmass.com headquarters are in Downtown Crossing, Massachusetts.

Target Audience

[edit]

Karmaloop.com doesn't target customers. Instead, customers target Karmaloop.com. Selkoe states that Karmaloop has a "For the people, by the people" approach, and is not just an online retail site. "It’s impossible to deny how large this multi-cultural audience of millions is. The demographics’ spending power, social forms, and upward mobility of this group cannot be matched." Most supporters range from early teens to their mid-30s years and equally split between women and men but customers of all ages shop at Karmaloop. According to Business Innovation, "Karmaloop is clothing for Generation Y trend setters."

Achievements
