Umukene is a town after Umuagwo in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State in Nigeria. The population is completely Christian and Igbo-speaking. The town lies on the Otamiri River downstream from Ihiagwa and 28 km (16.1 mi) from Owerri on the Port Harcourt road. Currently this town doesn't have Traditional ruler yet, several attempt has been made in the past by the present and past government to give them an autonomous community, but because of the political unrest proved abortive.
