[edit]From Daily Illini Article (2007)
[edit]- 2007 - Champaign City Council voted 7-1 to give Mayor Gerald Schweighart more power as liquor commissionor. This gave him permission to prohibit the sale of beer in pitchers and undiluted shots, along with limiting the number of kegs a residence could purchase.
- People checking ID's at bars have to be at least 21
- Police can break up parties considered "nuisance parties" and give party hosts citations.
- More staff in classes of 50 or more students to prevent disruptions. Student Disciplinary Committee voted that any student caught disrupting class on Unofficial could possibly be dismissed from the University.
- Increased law enforcement, including Illinois State Police.
- Some think controlling the celebration by working with students would be more effective, rather than trying to prevent it.
