In 1997, Chrysler was more profitable. [1] This same reference [1] can be sited somewhere else, but why the superscript in the reference section while there is not such indications in-text? This approach works when the difference references to the same source are far apart, but does not work when the references are close to one another.

An ISBN entry can be added, e.g., Wikipedia: the Missing Manual.[2] You can even reference a specific page number within a book using the 'rp' template, for example, page 32 of the book can be referenced as [2]: 32 .
