Evaluate an article[edit]

This is where you will complete your article evaluation. Please use the template below to evaluate your selected article.

  • Name of article: Marcela Acuña: (Marcela Acuña)
  • I chose to evaluate this article because I was interested in learning more about women's boxing.

Lead[edit]

Guiding questions
  • Does the Lead include an introductory sentence that concisely and clearly describes the article's topic? The topic of the article is Marcela boxing career, yet the Lead references her role as a politician and does not provide further information about this later in the article.
  • Does the Lead include a brief description of the article's major sections? The Lead primarily focuses on her accomplishments and neglects to provide a description of other major sections of the article such as early life.
  • Does the Lead include information that is not present in the article? The Lead does not include information that is not present in the article.
  • Is the Lead concise or is it overly detailed? It is overly detailed in the precise listing of all of her accomplishments.

Content[edit]

Guiding questions
  • Is the article's content relevant to the topic? The content is mostly related to the topic, except for the one-sentence section about her being a politician.
  • Is the content up-to-date? The content is not up-to-date as it was last edited three years ago.
  • Is there content that is missing or content that does not belong? The content about her role as a politician should either be expanded upon or removed. The way the article is currently formatted does not make it seem like that information belongs.
  • Does the article deal with one of Wikipedia's equity gaps? Does it address topics related to historically underrepresented populations or topics? Women's boxing and particularly female boxers from Latin America are underrepresented.

Content evaluation[edit]

Guiding questions
  • Is the article neutral? The article does not maintain a neutral position.
  • Are there any claims that appear heavily biased toward a particular position? The article appears heavily biased towards Marcela when referencing her fights and loses.

This article could benefit from more information on her personal life and how she went from one boxing competition to the other. Her winnings are overrepresented in that the article almost exclusively lists her accomplishments and records.
