The Althellinger Grund nature reserve is located in the Upper Franconian district of Coburg in Bavaria, Germany. It extends north of Merlach, a district of the city of Seßlach, along the Helling and along the northern state border with Thuringia. The CO 20 runs along the southern edge. To the north and southeast of Lindenau, a district of the city of Heldburg in the Thuringian district of Hildburghausen, the 66.8-hectare Althellinger Grund and Kreckaue nature reserve adjoins directly.
Significance
[edit]The 83.81-hectare area with the nature reserve number NSG-00402.01 was placed under protection in 1992. It is one of the few remaining wet meadow areas in Upper Franconia.[1]
