Wendy K. Johnson (29 February 1964 –present) is the first female Nebraska Air National Guard (NE ANG) officer with the rank of Brigadier General.[1] She was born in Elba Nebraska. As of June 2018 Brig. Gen. Wendy Johnson has assumed the top leadership position in the Nebraska Air National Guard, the first woman ever to hold that position.

Early Life[edit]

Wendy K. Ingerle Johnson was born and raised in Elba, a small town in Nebraska.[2] She is the oldest of 4 children, Darrin, Shelly, and Angela; the children of Allen and Edna Ingerle.[3]

Experience[edit]

General Wendy Johnson has been a part of the NE ANG since 1984.[3] She has worked in the military, at State and Federal levels, as a commissioned officer, since 1988. General Johnson has worked in support of at least ten named operations, including operations Deliberate Guard, Unified Protector, and Enduring Freedom.[3]
When she was promoted, General Johnson assumed the duties of the NE ANG Directer of Joint Staff, and the Assistant Adjutant General.[3]
