The "a priori"[edit]

  • The purpose of Wikipedia is to produce a free, high-quality encyclopedia covering all notable topics.
  • Wikipedia works by using the "wiki process" and volunteers.
  • Whatever best protects these assumptions and goals in the long term is the best option.

Some donkeysumptions and (mis)observations[edit]

  • Stubs on clearly notable topics will eventually expand and improve.
  • Messy articles can be repaired, though in some cases it may be necessary to drastically rewrite or rebuild an article.
    • Corollary. Some articles cannot be properly rebuilt or rewritten due to a variety of factors, including a combination of the current version and editing atmosphere.

Hasty decisions[edit]

  • It is often better to delete and/or stub a horrid articles to provide a clean slate.
    • Corollary. Sysops and other editors will need to prevent the reposting of the previous article, in whole or part. This is need for a variety of reasons, including preventing the stirring of bad blood and the resumption of previous contentious patterns.
