The "a priori"
[edit]- Notability is when a topic has enough available sources to craft a complete and balanced article that avoids "what Wikipedia is not".
- The purpose of Wikipedia is to produce a free, high-quality encyclopedia covering all notable topics.
- Wikipedia works by using the "wiki process" and volunteers.
- Whatever best protects these assumptions and goals in the long term is the best option.
Some donkeysumptions and (mis)observations
[edit]- Stubs on clearly notable topics will eventually expand and improve.
- Messy articles can be repaired, though in some cases it may be necessary to drastically rewrite or rebuild an article.
- Corollary. Some articles cannot be properly rebuilt or rewritten due to a variety of factors, including a combination of the current version and editing atmosphere.
Hasty decisions
[edit]- It is often better to delete and/or stub a horrid articles to provide a clean slate.
- Corollary. Sysops and other editors will need to prevent the reposting of the previous article, in whole or part. This is need for a variety of reasons, including preventing the stirring of bad blood and the resumption of previous contentious patterns.
