fairy alphabet[edit]

[temporarily saved from Fairy Alphabet, but I can't guarantee the images won't be deleted.]

The Fairy Alphabet is an alphabetic writing system developed by Llythrennog Rosen to write the Auld Ffaerie language. It has since been used to write many other languages spoken by Fairies and Humans, including English.

Glyphs[edit]

A notable feature of the Fairy Alphabet is that letters can be decomposed into glyphs representing phonetic features.

For example, the symbol:

can stand by itself as /p/, or more generally mean labial stop. It can combine with a nasal glyph to form /m/:

a fricative glyph to form /f/:

an abstract "stroke doubling glyph" to indicate voicing, for /b/:

or both voicing and the fricative glyph to make /v/:

The Letters[edit]

The Fairy Alphabet has letters corresponding to most English letters, plush several expressing sounds written with two letters in English.

Usage[edit]

The Fairy Alphabet is a way to write Flower Fairies (living near flowers) in their own way of writing in their language. If you send them mail, they will respond in this alphabet. Surprisingly, it will be human sized.
