BIOGRAPHY[edit]

Vladana Markovic was born in Belgrade in 1966. in the family of musical pedagogues. She is an graduated musician, vocal soloist, pedagogue and an author of jazz, classical, world and pop music.


Education[edit]

Vladana has a bachelor's degree as a vocal soloist (mezzosoprano) at the University of Musical Arts in Belgrade, instructed by professor Aleksandra Ivanovic. She is also an graduate student (absolvent) of the Film and Television Production at the University of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade.

     Pre-education

Vladana went to "Vladislav Ribnikar" elementary school in Belgrade. At the same time, she went to 'Vladimir Djordjevic" music elementary school in Belgrade, where she studied solo singing under professor Ljubica Stanisavljevic. After that she went to the Eighth Belgrade High School (today known as Third Belgrade High School) and the Twelfth Belgrade High School. She also went to "Kornelije Stankovic" musical high school in Belgrade, where she also studied solo singing in the class of professor Branka Kambaskovic.

Accomplishments[edit]

Vladana started being active as a vocalist in the year 1990 on the channel Radio Television of Belgrade - RTB (today known as Radio Television of Serbia - RTS), when the editor at the time, Mr. Milivoje-Mica Markovic, invited her to join the Jazz Orchestra as a soloist in the Musical Production of Radio Belgrade. She worked with a lot of vocal and instrumental groups exploring various music genres such as classical, jazz, world and pop music, some of which include: Radio Television of Belgrade's Jazz Orchestra ,Jazz Fusion Group "The New Age Brand", Lazar Tosic Quintet ,"Jazz Classical Duo" with Vojin Draskoci ,Aleksandar Dujin Orchestra ,Military Orchestra of the Third Army (later knows as"The Nishville Big Band"), String quartet "Bellotti", Ensemble "Rukoveti", "Renaissance", Symphonic Orchestra of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) Belgrade Philharmonic ,"St. George" choir, "I. M. E".. She recorded numerous pieces for the television and radio. She worked as a studio musician, and between 1994 and 1998, she worked as a lecturer and assistant in jazz camps and musical workshops with Vojin Draskoci in Ecka, Palic and Becej. During that time, a renown Serbian jazz musician Misa Blam invited her to take part in forming a jazz concentration in all music educational institutions, including music elementary, high school and university. She then became the first professor of jazz singing in music elementary and high school "Kornelije Stankovic". After that, she worked in jazz singing at the Academy of Beautiful Arts, she was a lecturer of Vocal Technique at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade, then she was a vocal pedagogue at the "Theater at Terazije". She was the author and director of a jazz show "Jazz House", which aired on the YU-Radio radio station between 1999 and 2002. She was also a musical producer and editor at Radio Television of Serbia (RTS). She performed at all major festivals and concerts of classical music in the country, some of which include Belef, Nomus, Mesam, Mermer i Zvuci, Summertime Jazz & Blues Festival, Ladies singing jazz(Dame pevaju jazz), various local jazz festivals in Nis, Novi Sad, Vrsac, Zrenjanin, Kikinda, Sombor and also in Frankfurt (Germany), Gyor (Hungary), Sofija and Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Thessaloniki (Greece) and many more. She collaborated with some of the biggest artists of her time: Vojin Draskoci, Misa Blam, Lazar Tosic, Predrag Ivanovic, Milos Petrovic, Konstantin Babic, Branka Saper, Bora Rokovic, Milivoj Mica Markovic, Miroslav Karlovic, Vladimir Maricic, Miroslav Tadic, Stjepko Gut, Milos Krstic, Boki Milosevic, Vasil Hadzimanov, Bojan Zulfikarpasic, Vlada Novicic, Aleksandar Dujin, Franja-Buca Jenc, Vojislac Bubisa Simic, Slobodan Markovic, Zvonimir Skerl, Vojkan Borisavljevic, Rade Radivojevic, Ognjen Radivojevic, Kornelije Kovac, Dragan Ilic, Rambo Amadeus and many more.

  • 1996 - First Place for Best Vocal Soloist of jazz music
  • 1996 - First Place as part of a group "The New Age Band" in the jazz ensemble category, organized by a cultural radio show "All That Jazz", directed by Rasa Petrovic
  • First Place at the 13th International Youth Jazz Festival in Plovdiv, Bulgaria as part of a group "The New Age Band"
  • Annual Award Aleksandar Trifunovic at the University of Musical Arts
  • Povelja (Muniment)from the Jazz Musicians Society -1998-1999 - winner of the Status of an Exemplary Artist
  • Award from The Society of Serbian Musicians (UMUS)
