User:WESTBURY FINE ART

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Whilst not interested in the politics of Wikipedia, I sometimes feel the need to add art historical and curatorial comments. The use of Wikipedia has become more and more difficult to use for anyone other than someone with a lot of time on their hands to learn its particular ways. To say it is not user-friendly is an understatement; it really is beyond that, for example, to put right a small error in order to help with the veracity of a statement is vastly complex. I have been accused of vandalism for trying to put right an error. I do not receive any reward for telling the truth or contributing on here; it just allows others to be informed.

With questions of attribution and/or authorship of works of art references are needed. Recently, when trying to provide authorship references, I was blocked and called a vandal. Personally, I do find this a little defamatory (in the sense of English law), especially when it is completely unjustified, and creates an obvious 'sting'. Do we really need to pay someone to correct an error? This is the ethical question you should ask yourselves.
