Wade Schriner

I was born on June 18th 1971 in San Josef BC, the youngest of 4 siblings. While growing up I joined the local air cadet squadron at 13. In 1989 I graduated from Widdifield S.S. in North Bay Ontario, I then moved Toronto where I attended the architectural program at Humber College. My military career started in 1989 with 400/411 Squadron in Toronto as reserve airframe technician. At first I thought that this would be a good part time job while going to school, but after a short time I found that I was not interested in aircraft mechanics, so I applied for and got an occupational transfer to 26 military police Platoon. I found this career path to be a lot more enjoyable and ended up liking the military enough that I decided to stick with it even after graduation. I graduated as an Architectural Technician from Humber College in May 1992.

After Graduating at the high point of the recession in the building industry I was having trouble finding work, so I ended up taking a job as a security guard for Alberta government telephones in Edmonton. Working for AGT was a relatively good job but had no future, this is when I decided that the part time job I had during school could actually be a career. So in September 1995 I was accepted to The Royal Canadian Artillery battle school in Shilo Manitoba. By December that year I completed my Basic Gunnery training and was posted to E Battery CFB Petawawa. While a member of E-Bty I did a 150 km ski trip across James Bay, Backpacked the Grand Canyon and hiked through gross mourn national park in Newfoundland. The battery also deployed to North Carolina to train with the USMC artillery.

Late in 1997 when most of the senior members of E Battery deployed to Bosnia with 1 RCR, I was transferred to F Battery to await their return. Instead of returning to E-Bty though I deployed with 3 RCR to Bosnia on roto 3. After returning from Bosnia I decided to take an occupational transfer to construction technician. Starting in September 1999 I was sent on my QL3 course in Pictou Nova Scotia. From there I was posted to 191 Airfield Engineer Flight CFB Comox. While in Comox I met and Married my wife Leslie and bought my first house. As well I had several deployments to the US, including Silver Flag at Tindal Air force Base Florida. In November 2004 I went on a deployment to the Golan Heights. While deployed there my wife gave birth to my son Maxwell January 1st 2005. After returning home in June 2005 I was posted and promoted to the navel construction troop at CBF Esquimalt where I am the 2 i/c of the construction cell. I have since taken a course in urban search and rescue and become a Team lead on the Urban Search and Rescue team at CFB Esquimalt. March 2007 I completed my PLQ course at the fleet school in Esquimalt. Then in June of 2006 I completed my Structural 6A course at CFSME and returned to my unit where I took over as the Structural cell I/C. In March 2007 I left home once again for Valcartier Qubec where I was attached to 5 RGC's Construction Troop as part of TFA 03-07. After Training I deployed to Afghanistan in Aug 2007 to the Kandahar Provincial Reconstruction Team. Where I help to teach several Afghan's construction related trades. I returned home in March 2008 to the PNCT where I took over as the Troop Warrent Officer and the Construction Troops activities while half the troop deployed to TFA 03-08. After the return of the troop I was posted to CFB Gander to fill the Contracts supervisor postion. Insert non-formatted text here
