Smart Cangjie Input Method, abbreviated as SCJ, "快速倉頡輸入法" in Chinese, was invented by Mr MAK Che Hung since 1987. Mak was inspired by the 3-code-letter Cangjie in ETen Chinese System. He modified and improved Cangjie input method to make a new Chinese Input Method[1][2]。In 2009, the input method was introduced by LinuxPilot magazine and Mak changed its copyright license[3][4]. He released it under GNU General Public License GPLv3.[5]
Feature
[edit]Used as the Original Cangjie Input Method or arbitrarily using SCJ encoding to increase typing speed
[edit]There are two input methods within SCJ. The two wouldn't "interfere" with one another. In other words, a Cangjie user types but he wouldn't realize that there is SCJ encoding. And an SCJ user would type quickly as if there is no Original Cangjie encoding. This is because characters are usually encoded with more than 3 code-letters in Cangjie. And characters encoded with 3 or less code-letters are the same as those encoded in SCJ.
Speed gained with simple character encoding
[edit]SCJ is an improvement over Original Cangjie. It is one of the input methods with short and simple encoding。 It usually only break downs a character into 3 code-letters only. First unit broken down to 2, last unit broken to 1. Or first unit broken down to 1, last unit to 2. For single-unit character, the unit is broken down to the first, the second and the last. According to Mak, the average encoding length is somewhere between 2.5 to 2.9 code-letters. The 4 mnemonic phrases of encoding are "First, first & last, first first & last, first last & last"[6] [[Category:Han character input]] [[Category:Pages using deprecated image syntax]] [[Category:Pages with unreviewed translations]]
