Jonathan Macdonald is British communications professional, an acclaimed blogger, and a passionate activist for new business practices in a changing business world. He is widely considered one of the primary strategists and thought leaders in the digital space. He runs two communications businesses and is the author of "The Survival Guide for the 21st Century Retailer". He is also the man behind EverySingleOneOfUs (everysingleoneofus.com) and The Music Industry Manifesto (musicindustrymanifesto.com).

Overview[edit]

Jonathan has always been a strong proponent for transparency in business and embracing change to enhance business practice and consumer experiences. To this end, he has become a self-styled communications prophet, spreading the word of 21st century communication to businesses and people by preaching what he practices.

His blog (jonathanmacdonald.com) has garnered a legion of loyal followers, and in 2007, he was voted by the global blogging and analyst community as joint 8th in the 'Rockstars of Web 2.0', the list of Who's Who in the Internet World, alongside the likes of Barack Obama and Steve Jobs.

Jonathan also spends much of his time sharing his knowledge and experience as a specialist speaker at business seminars and conferences all over the world.

A lifetime musician whose first foray into business was via the music industry, Jonathan still campaigns strongly for a revolution in the music industry for the 21st century through The Music Industry Manifesto (musicindustrymanifesto.com), which has gained worldwide support and a loyal following.

He has also launched Every Single One of Us (everysingleoneofus.com), which is a set of signposts for a digital revolution - encouraging, enabling and enhancing interaction between citizens and commerce, with an aim to safeguard and maximize user experience.

As part of this movement, Jonathan wrote ‘The Communication Ideal’ which was downloaded over 30,000 times in 2008 and in 2009 was taken up by Amazon to appear in its business book marketplace.

In October 2009, Jonathan made national news and and sparked major public debate after capturing on video a London Tube worker verbally assaulting an elderly passenger, a day after Mayor Boris Johnson announced price increases on the underground. [[1]]
