Evaluating Carolinian forest article[edit]

Carolinian Forest: Carolinian forest

  • This article is an article I already edited earlier in the semester. It is rated as "Stub-class" on the talk page and despite being rated "low-importance" it is supported by multiple WikiProjects of Canada, Ontario and Geography of Canada. Finally, I believe it could use more information. For these reasons I feel as though it would be a good article to evaluate and edit.

Lead evaluation[edit]

The lead paragraph introduces the topic and is concise. It could use a brief description of the article's major sections and some citations for certain statements.

Content evaluation[edit]

All content in the article is relevant to the topic and is up-to-date. There could be some added academic resources like journal articles which highlights what kinds of studies are being done in the region.

Tone and Balance evaluation[edit]

The article has an overall neutral tone with no attempt to sway a reader towards an opinion, despite the subject matter being about a region in need of conservation (which may come with bias). Only facts were presented and I edited a word which may imply bias.

Sources and References evaluation[edit]

Not quite all of the facts are backed up and some statements need to be cited. More academic research can certainly be added to represent a more thorough discourse of the article topic. The sources present are current and the links work.

Organization evaluation[edit]

The article is well organized into sensible sections and is well-written with few if any spelling or grammatical errors. It should be easy to understand to most audiences.

Images and Media evaluation[edit]

No images are currently present.

  • Does the article include images that enhance understanding of the topic? No
  • Are images well-captioned? n/a
  • Do all images adhere to Wikipedia's copyright regulations? n/a
  • Are the images laid out in a visually appealing way? n/a

Checking the talk page[edit]

In 2007, a user suggested merging this page with the 'Carolinian Zone' page which was done. Other than that, a bot updated some links, but that is it. It is part of/supported by three WikiProjects: Canada, Ontario and Geography of Canada. Wikipedia is more neutral to the topic; in class this is discussed in a more biased way towards wanting to conserve the region while the page only presents facts.

Overall evaluation[edit]

According to Wikipedia this is a Stub-class article of low-importance to the projects it is involved in. It is neutral, organized, well-written and concise. The information it does contain is good overall, although some statements need to be cited and it could still use additional academic sources for more information. Overall it is adequately developed, but certainly could be improved. Some images to support the article information would not hurt.
