From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Boston Massacre took place in March of 1770 due to tensions between Patriots and British soldiers. Paul Revere and Samuel Adams were the two leading Patriots during the Boston Massacre. The British soldiers had been stationed in American territory for two years before the massacre began, 1768, and eventually this led to tensions mentioned previously, caused by raising taxes. Amongst the rise of the tension, a British soldier was surrounded and abused verbally by American soldiers. This led to the involvement of multiple other British soldiers, whom were being hit with clubs and snowballs by the Patriots. Eventually, one member fired their firearm, which led to uncalled for and unsuspected fire from all sides, killing three soldiers immediately and injuring more. The crowd left after being ordered to do so, but some came back the next day to finish what was started. Eight soldiers, 1 officer and 4 people were charged with murder, but with help from the President, some charges were reduced or even dropped. The engraving by Paul Revere is what brought so much attention so fast about the Boston Massacre.
