Who am I?[edit]

Wes Williams. My real name is splattered all over the net so I don't mind revealing it.

What have I done - and what am I doing?[edit]

Formerly Document Archivist for The International Concertina Association. I know a fair bit about the instrument and its history and have written articles for the Concertina Library run by Dr. Bob Gaskins, a fellow concertina geek (and inventor of PowerPoint).

I have my own site Concertina Historical Resources where I have been adding many early concertina recordings. This has involved a lot of research into 78rpms and cylinders, and I have made scans of some of my 78rpm Record catalogues available at The 78rpm Community (site now dead!!), as well as posting restored 78rpms of many different musical genres.

My most recent 'big' project has been to write the software to generate the The Concertina Museum website from an XML database. This shows thousands of photos of around 400 concertinas, both inside and out, as well as related instruments, documents, plastic gnomes playing concertinas .... in fact, anything 'concertina'.

I am now virtually retired, but was formerly a 'Technical Specialist' in hardware and software for Digital Signal Processing in a major European Electronics Conglomerate. So 78rpm restoration is a natural extension of my work experience, and I write my own software for this.

My main reason for being here is to use my research to improve many of the British 78rpm (ie pre 1950) label stubs. The Catalogues and Supplements at the 78rpm Community (site now dead!!) provide ideal references for the stubs that don't have any!
