I have always been a reader on Wikipedia, but never a contributor. Whether or not Wikipedia is considered a good reference site, I will always come here to start all my research. I believe Wikipedia is a good starting point. It gives you an introduction to your research and pave a road for your expectations from further research. If that was not enough, you can just follow the reference links for solid research material.
