I am a white Englishman. I am married to a Xhosa South African. We currently spend most of our time in England, but in the next year or so will move to live in South Africa.

I want help ensure that South Africa is portrayed correctly, and not simply through "western" eyes. Describing South Africa correctly is a bit of a minefield, but between us, slowly, we are getting it right. Please forgive me if I get things wrong in my contributions, but don't leave it at that, please correct it.

I want to encourage people to visit South Africa on holiday or business, and to spend their hard-earned cash in ways that will benefit some of the poorer communities and individuals in South Africa. Describing South Africa, its people and its cultures properly is just one way to help achieve this - once you know what its really like you won't be able to resist a visit to the Rainbow Nation.
