Flipter is an online social networking service and microblogging service that enables its users to communicate with the use of polls, known as “Flips”, all users can create their own polls, share them and organize them in one place. The polling results, analytics and statistical data are available to the public as reference, becoming the world’s largest collection of polls and opinions on the Internet.[1] It was created in February 2010 by Salvador de la Barrera and launched that summer. Unregistered users can read the polls results, statistical data, while registered users can post Flips and express their opinions on various topics or interests by voting through the website interface. Users can share polls to their followers or in other social networks or websites.

On March 2011 Flipter received the Hong Kong Cyberport Creative Microfund seed money awarded to high-potential start-up projects or business concepts in the digital creative area.[2] On September 2011, Flipter was selected to participate in the prestigious global accelerator program, Start-up Chile, garnering US$40K of Equity-Free Seed Capital.[3] On March 2012 Flipter also received further financial support from Hong Kong’s Cyberport Incubation Program, including office space in Cyberport.
