Brief Biography:

Wilayat Rizvi was born at Zadibal area of Srinagar on 24th March 1968 at 1200Noon [Eid-e-Mubahala] in a reputed but down to earth middle class family. His father, Syed Afzal Rizvi [an Arts graduate] was the owner of rice husking machines besides being a land lord. His mother Zamrooda Rizvi was a house wife a used to teach religion to neighboring children at home. Wilayat has one elder brother Mushtaq Rizvi and two younger sisters Shaheen and Nighat.

Wilayat Rizvi' ancestors like Syed Hussain Qumi had migrated to Kashmir from Iran (Qum), settled first Zainagir area in Spore, then at Ahmadpora and finally at Zadibal. His ancestry is connected Imam-e-Riza (8th Imam).
At Zadibal his first grand ancestor, Aga Syed Ibrahim had migrated from Ahmad Pora in early 19th century (around 1820AD) followed by Aga Syed Ahmad, Aga Syed Rasool Rizvi and Syed Afzal Rizvi

Due to financial problems at home his father admitted Wilayat Rizvi in a local Govt school named Imamia Public School, Zadibal in 1973 where he impressed his whole teaching staff in the first year of his studies by getting first position in whole school. However, having lesser age, he was detained in first primary for two years. During his schooling Wilayat Rizvi also studied his religion Islam and theology. He received many awards and was head boy for all the twelve years in Govt. Boys School Zadibal. The head master of the School Mr. Jawahar Lal Raina was highly impressed by his performance and, therefore, arranged a merit scholarship for him. He qualified Senior Secondary School Exam [10th standard] in March 1985 through J&K Board of School Education.

During his schooling Wilayat was impressed by the teachings of Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, Mr. Mohammad Jaffer Mir and Mr. Irshad Ahmad. Mr. Ibrahim Khan taught him science and math in 8th class whereas Mr. M. Jaffer and Mr. Irshad taught him math and science in 9th and 10th standard.
