Umbanda's Exu, or Law's Exu, according to Umbanda, is a type of spirit, that can be in several stages of enlightment, that help in spiritual works, incorporating or not a medium, when they work in the Laws of Umbanda


Because of the Catholic influence in the colonization and the political-social formation of Brazil. Exu was soon associated with the Devil even in the beginning of Umbanda. Even nowadays, there are several times that Umbanda still evokes that syncretism.

Umbanda's Exu is a spiritual entity, supposedly the spirit of someone that was born and died, therefore belongs to the so called "povo de rua or "catiço".[1]
