Mim(Ahafo)is a town in the Brong-Ahafo Region of Ghana. Mim is 14.6km away from the municipal and regional capital,Goaso. Mim is the most populated and the biggest town in the Asunafo North Municipality as well as the whole of the Ahafo Region. The total population of Mim is 30,753 in 2017(Source: Ghana Statistical Service).
HISTORY:
Nana Broffo Apau founded Mim during the Ashanti wars of 1722, during the reign of Nana Agyemang Prempeh 1 of Ashanti. At that time, the Ashanti kingdom sent warriors to conquer and occupy more lands. Ahafo was annexed in one of such escapades, led by Nana Broffo Apau. Nana Broffo Apau and his men continued their conquests till they reached a place where there were plenty of palm trees. They used the branches of the palm trees for shelter. The warriors led by Nana Broffo Apau built huts and settled, referring to the place as "Mmem" which is anglicised as “MIM” i.e. settling and dwelling among “palm trees."
ECONOMY:
Mim is the industrial town in the entire Ahafo Region. Mim is situated in the heart of a dense tropical forest which provides trees for one of Ghana's largest timber firms Mim Timber Company Ltd (Now, Ayum Forest products Ltd). Besides its value as an export, the timber from the forest provides raw materials for another important company, Scanstyle Mim Ltd, which exports collapsible furniture. Mim also hosts the Mim Cashew and agricultural products ltd. A number of small and medium scale timber firms are also located in MIM.
The fundamental occupation of residents of Mim is farming, which is Cocoa farming and food crops. Food production in Mim is very high as compared to other parts of the country
TOURIST ATTRACTION:
[edit]Mim Bour(Rocky Mountain) located in Mim, is the biggest tourist site in the Ahafo Region. History indicates that, in the past, the paramount
Chief of Mim used to climb the mountains (“Mim Bour”) to address his subjects.
It was also said that when climbed, he was able to see all the areas under his jurisdiction and even as far as Techiman and Kumasi. He used to address his subjects by climbing the mountain in those times. The Mim Bour is believed to have some spiritual history surrounding its existence. It is believed that the mountain, which is about 2sq.km, serves as a protective god to the people of Mim.
The Mim Bour is now the biggest tourist site in the Ahafo Region. The Tourist site which has been partially developed is widely Patronized by both the local people and foreigners. It has lovely gardens, an orchard, swimming pool, and a bard. From the summit of the MimBour(rocky mountain), you have a panoramic view of the cashew plantation and surrounding areas.

Mim Senior High School, Ghana Greentech Academy, Mim Technical Academy and Several Basic Schools are all located in Mim in the asunafo north Municipality.
