Levi Cooper


Levi Cooper is a teacher, author, and community leader. He is a faculty member of the Pardes Institute for Jewish Studies in Jerusalem [1] where he teaches Talmud, Rambam, and Hasidism. Originally from Australia, he holds an LLB and LLM from Bar-Ilan University, and is a member of the Israel Bar Association. His PhD, awarded by Bar-Ilan University's Faculty of Law, explored the interaction between Hasidism and Jewish Law. He is a member of Tzohar,[2], an organization made up of Zionist rabbinical leaders who embrace a non-coercive approach to Jewish practice. He also services as a historian with Heritage Seminars [3]. He studied at Chabad, the Yeshivat Sha'alvim, the Kollel at Bar-Ilan University and Beit Morasha.

Published Works[edit]

Cooper is the author of “The Tisch”, a bi-weekly column on Hasidism in The Jerusalem Post [4]. His first book, Relics for the Present, [5] was published by Koren Publishers Jerusalem in June 2012.
