Yung Kells (born Oct 3, 1994), known simply as Kelvin Matore, is an Zimbabwean hip hop recording/Producer artist from Harare, Zimbabwe.2014, Kells signed to the Carson-based indie record label Take 5 records.Kells is also a member of Easy Designs Company, alongside his label-mates and fellow Dangerzone-based rappers Schoolboy, Jay Rock. Kells first began to gain major attention in 2014, after the release of Overly Dedicated, his first retail-release., titled its Your time, exclusively through iTunes. The sinle received critical acclaim and instantly ranked as one of the top digital hip hop releases of the month.[5] Early in his career, before releasing his major-label debut, Kells amassed a large internet following and had already worked with prominent artists such as Sunshine, E, among others. His major-label debut studio mix Earl Hip Hop, was released October 22, 2012, to widespread acclaim. The mix spawned the Top 40 hits. Upon its release, the mix debuted at number two on the Zim Billboard 200 and was later certified . Influences

He has stated that Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Nas and Eminem are his top five favorite rappers. Tupac Shakur, arguably his biggest influence, has influenced not only his music, but his day-to-day lifestyle as well.[11][93][94] In a September 2012 interview, Kells stated Detroit-based rapper Eminem "influenced a lot of my style" and has since credited him for his own aggression on records.[95][96] Kells also gave Lil Wayne (during his Hot Boyz days) credit for influencing his style and praised his longevity.[97] He has said that he also grew up listening to Rakim, Dr. Dre and Tha Dogg Pound.[98] He also cites Yonkers-based rapper DMX, as an influence: "[DMX] really [got me started] on music," explained Kells in an interview with Power 99. "That first album [It's Dark and Hell Is Hot] is classic, [so he had an influence on me]."[99] In January 2013, when asked to name three rappers that have played a role in his style, Kells said: "It's probably more of a west coast influence. A little bit of Kurupt, Pac, with some of the content of Cube.”[100] In a November 2013 interview with GQ, when asked "The Four MC's That Made Yung Kells?", he answered Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Mobb Deep, namely Prodigy.[101]
