André Ariani Miranda Azevedo (São Paulo, November 14th, 1975) is a Brazilian golfer, professionally known as André Miranda.

Early life

His parents were an insurance broker and a Seamstress. André was still a child when he was diagnosed with Tricuspid atresia, a congenital heart defect. The Doctor cardiologist Munir Ebaid, who years later came to present André to what would become his life passion, being a golf player.

At five years old, André was hospitalized and underwent heart surgery to correct the atresia in the tricuspid valve of his heart, executed by Dr Adib Jatene and Dr Ieda Jatene. The surgery gave André a new life perspective.

André´s love for golf began at 09 years old he started taking golf lessons.

Career

To assist him as a golf player, he had a mentor and coach, Ricardo Iverson, also known as Cadinho. He helped him to achieve top rankings in the following tournaments. Best match play player on the 9th Ipê Golf Club Open Tournament (2010), third place on Pro-Am do CBG Pro Tour 2011[1][2], first place on the 2012 Nespresso Trophy[3][4] and second place on the Golf Channel Copa Citi Latin American Championship (2012)[5].

In 2014, at 63, Regina Campos Caiuby Ariani, his mother, passed away abruptly from a Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA), leaving behind her husband, André, and her two daughters Ana Rita e Adriana. In 2015 André moved to Lecce, Italy, followed by his coach Ricardo Iverson Cadinho, where he would stay for the three following years, training at Rocca Golf Academy of Costantino Rocca.

In 2018, André moved to Florida, USA, to achieve his goal of becoming a member of the PGA TOUR (Professional Golfers Association).

Present

In February 2021, André went hospitalized in Orlando, Florida, US at the Orlando Health (Orlando Regional Medical Center) after a Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA).

Since then, Andre has been recovering, doing physiotherapy sessions, and on the path to getting back to his golf career. The professionals working on his case have been the key in his recovery process, especially Dr Maxwell Medeiros and Alicia Riesen (Case Manager in AdventHealth Winter Park - Rehab, in Orlando, USA).

Today André shares motivational content online in the hope of helping people with similar issues
