Introduction
[edit]Hi, my name is Zoica. I am currently taking some courses at the University of Guelph. Back home I used to be an elementary teacher. To pursue this career here in Canada I have to get the teaching licence and these courses are part of the requirements for the licence. This is my first page in Wikipedia and I found it really interesting to work on this and create my own personal page.
Personal Life
[edit]I was born in Albania which is located in the western part of Balkan Peninsula and southeast of Europe. Albania has a great history and is one of the oldest countries in Europe [1] Last summer my family and I took a trip in Albania and Greece. First we went to Albania to see our relatives. There I took my five year old daughter to some of the places where my husband and I grew up. Then we went to Greece. In Athens we visited Acropolis the most important ancient monument in Europe. [2] After Athens we visited the island of Rhodes. There we went to the beach, enjoyed some of the island's traditional food and tried out all the island's traditional dances. I have became an expert in those dances. It was such an wonderful experience for all of us.
Education and Academic Career
[edit]I did most of my education in Albania. For my highschool I attended the School of Fine Arts where I was specialized in painting and lithography. After I went to University of Gjirokaster and completed an undegraduate degree in Education in 1990. I worked as an elementary teacher until I moved to Canada in 2003. Currently, I am a student at the University of Guelph.
Hobbies
[edit]My hobbies are:
- Visual Arts (especially oil painting, drawing, and assemblage)
- Cooking
- Reading
- Foreign Languages
Art
[edit]Visual Arts have been my hobby since High School. Through the years I have done quite artworks, some of which have been displayed in exhibitions. Lately I have done some art works using mundane objects and creating quite interesting pieces. My works comprise of found objects (keys) and is based on their shapes, their relation to one another, and the forces of gravity.(One of these works is posted on my profile picture.)
Besides making art I also like to read a lot about art and artists in particular. One of my favorite artists is Rembrandt. I love his attention to details, the way he uses the colors and especially the light. In his works look like the light comes from the objects themselves than from outside.[3] I thing is that light that makes his painting so expressive. All his works are masterpieces, but my favorite is Return of the Prodigal Son.
Foreign Languages
[edit]I like to learn foreign languages. Learning these languages has given me the opportunity to know more about countries, about their history and their culture. I speak:
- Albanian
- English
- Italian
- Greek
For the last three months I have been learning Spanish.
