Petr Tej

Petr Tej (*1978) is an architect and bridge engineer dedicated to the design of bridges and footbridges. He works as head of the Department of Bridge Structures at the Klokner Institute of the Czech Technical University in Prague. Together with Jan Mourek and Oto Melter he founded the Bridge Structures studio. Petr Tej is the author of a number of bridges and footbridges, from small spans to large projects of citywide significance. His projects are often created in collaboration with renowned Czech and foreign studios. He uses high-strength concrete (UHPC) in his work, which is also the material of one of his last significant projects, the Stvanice footbridge in Prague connecting Holesovice and Karlin, which he designed together with Marek Blank and Jan Mourek.

He graduated from the School of Architecture at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts under Emil Přikryl, the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University under Alena Šrámková and the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Czech Technical University.

Notable works[edit]

Notable projects include the footbridge over the Vltava River in Luzec nad Vltavou (2020), the footbridge over the Dretovice brook (2018) and the footbridge over the Lubina River in Příbor (2018), which have won numerous awards. Another award-winning construction was the Stvanice footbridge in Prague connecting Holesovice and Karlin, which he designed together with Marek Blank and Jan Mourek and whose implementation was completed in July 2023.
