Graham Thurgood in his cited paper did not mentioned Old Cham in particular for the Dong Yen Chau inscription rather than it stated "In the mid-fourth century, a stone inscription was composed Tra Kieu, partly in Cham and partly in Sanskrit - the earliest historical historical document for any Astronesian language."
Also statement claimed by multiple experts agree are misleading because other literatures written by experts on Dong Yen Chau inscriptions for examples by Coedes and Morrison. None of them mentioned in particular that the language being used is specifically Old Cham but all of them are agreeing on one fact though, the fact that the Dong Yen Chau is the oldest record for any Astronesian language and this includes proto-Malay, Old Malay and Malay languages.
