Maybe it's best to create an account

[edit]

I see what happened at Federal prosecution of Donald Trump. If you want to be taken seriously, create an account. You will have many more rights and "powers", as well as the possibility for other editors to thank you and communicate with you in other ways, such as by email. You will also have more privacy. Just create an anonymous user name. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 15:18, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Valjean:I have an account and don't feel like logging into it. While I recognize there are advantages to an account, being "taken seriously" should not be one of them. WP:AGF does not have an exception for IPs. Editors should not just be reverting IPs for no reason. Otherwise, why not just protect the article? 136.34.191.59 (talk) 18:14, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes and no. Yes, in a perfect world, we should all AGF, but since IP editors cause most of the vandalism here, there is a justified suspicion of IPs that, unfortunately, affects good-faith IP editors like yourself. That's a reality you must deal with. Wishing it was not that way, because it shouldn't be that way, won't work. As long as you edit as an IP, you will have to live with not being taken seriously, and that's your own fault for not using your account. A persecution complex won't help you. Most editors are adults here and are expected to act as mature adults.
Being lazy is not an excuse. If you have an account, you must use it and it alone. Using more than one account, and an IP is treated as an account, is generally not allowed. All your edits should ideally be collected under one contribution history. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 20:44, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's not true under the policy at WP:LOGOUT. 136.34.191.59 (talk) 16:07, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What part's not true? -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 16:29, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
