Information icon Hello, I'm Grayfell. I noticed that you made a comment on the page Talk:Richard B. Spencer that didn't seem very civil, so it has been removed. Wikipedia is built on collaboration, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 21:12, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I believe you may have misinterpreted my tone. I don't believe I would have said it any differently if we were discussing this over beers.140.254.77.235 (talk) 21:55, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, but this isn't over beers, this is about a written record of discussions on how to improve the article Richard B. Spencer. The burden is on you to convey your tone clearly. Someone (I assume someone else) restored your comments with the edit summary "unintelligible jewspeak in edit summary". If this doesn't demonstrate why a high standard of civility needs to be maintained, perhaps you can just take my word for it. Grayfell (talk) 22:03, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how to restore comments, although you should have done so, voluntarily, considering the "uncivil" tone of a significant portion of talk pages, especially this one. I had not yet been as uncivil as others whose comments were not deleted, presumably because of their notoriety. I agree, though, that my tone is my responsibility, which is why I deliberately tried to not simply preach, but present reasons for why my viewpoint is acceptable, even if not accepted. Put another way, what I wrote was enough for the willing to see the fallacies in their arguments. I appreciate it when people do this for me, and I assume people here appreciate the same.140.254.77.235 (talk) 22:29, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
