once tried to edit herself, but got put off by the logic of wikipedia, and you in turn might do so, - there are strict requirements as to where info comes from - personal knowledge is not where things come from that can get into the text here...

The rules and how they affect your personal knowledge... WP:V, WP:RS and WP:NOT are a start...

If you had the equivalent of a good store of newslcippings/info that is in the public domain - great

Bear in mind WP:COI - best is to get an account, find the WP:RS to tie things in, and of you go !

Here above ^^ is a typical example of Wiki's hopelessly convoluted communication labyrinth. I got directed here from a link on an unrelated Wiki search, and it's clear the message is directed to me about a talk-page comment I wrote, yet while this is addressed to me, I have no idea what THIS current page is or where it is, or what it is, or where it came from or what to do about it, other than to take this "edit" option. I don't even know if anyone will ever read this or if this page exists only on my screen or goes anywhere or nowhere. Am I in fact writing to anyone buy myself?? No idea at all. If there's a place to "send" this --- who knows where that is.

As far as what to do about the advice above, realizing this may or may not at all be the place to do so, again my documentation would be in the form of a radio broadcast, which as such certainly meets the criterion of "published" work in the "public domain", and is in fact in the subject (Ellen)'s own recorded voice (some 35 years ago, before Internet), quoted verbatim, yet I have no way to link to radio waves already radiated into space, which is why I mused about it on the talk page instead of writing into the main article. One guesses (?) that if I then took that quote from the recorded interview and wrote a webpage about it, that page would then be "verifiable" yet the content would have no more substance than the original -- actually it would have less, in that anyone can write anything in a blog/review. What would I do, chance to find a tape of the broadcast and send it in to Wiki Master Control?

I don't have the answer to that, only questions, but it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to see why Ellen herself didn't want to deal with it either. I don't doubt the claim above for a moment; Ellen is not one to find pedantry amusing.

Wiki is an amazing resource for info but its obtuse uncommunication walls where unknown entities materialize out of nowhere giving no clue where they came from, where one is reading it, or what if anything to do about it, are, along with notorious past threats from still other unknown entities, exactly why I never bothered to "sign up". Wiki is underlain by this navigational nightmare; you can't participate in something that gives no clue as to where you are or what's going on, and obviously, you can't respond. Until that's addressed those of us not initiated into the super-secret magic inner circle will have to confine ourselves to the talk pages, if we add anything at all. It's an exclusive club.
