Complaint

1. Around October 7, 2011, Student Activities submitted a complaint to the general counsel. SAO appears to have complained that MIT Crime Club committed a section 90 false-claim offense. ASA published the complaint but not the decision. Do you know whether SAO lost?

"Whoever … makes any false and fraudulent … assertion of … sanction of an incorporated college … as a commendation … shall be punished…." False Claim of Endorsement or Approval Act, Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 266, § 90.

2. "Article III: Rights and Responsibilities of Student Groups.… The activity’s president and treasurer … must be distinct registered MIT students." General Counsel

1. You're editing from an MIT IP address.  Are you Student Activities or contributing on its behalf?

2. In 2011 the General Counsel appears to have made a decision about whether MIT Crime Club has standing to use the MIT name.  The organization does use the MIT name (and the MITCrimeClub.org domain, see article link). Why do you say it can't?

3. The General Counsel has the authority to stand for MIT in its legal matters.  Do you agree that its decisions are binding on MIT's subdivisions? --Dervorguilla (talk) 20:04, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
