hello, this is in reply to our discussion on Norteno's. I am sure that Sureno's don't feel the need in south cal to ally like they do up here, and that Sureno's up north are only a small portion of thier complete numbers. But i'm approaching that from the POV that this is not an article about surenos and especially not an article about sureno's in LA. So other than instances where it directly effects a topic about Norteno's, it clouds the issue to get into lengthy description of what surenos do in la. In fact as you pointed out there are no norteno's in la, so what they do down there is really irrelevant. I understand and agree with you that Nortenos probley do ally quicker in norther ca that sureno's do in the south because as you stated the norteno's have fewer numbers and can't afford to squabble internally in the face of the sureno threat, especially with sureno's moving into the north. But I still feel that it may be an observation of minor import compared to the space that it would take to explain it. A proper explanation of this phenomena :) would also have to include a discription of the situation in areas that are in neither north or south cal, such as washington state where unlike the bay area I did not notice a greater bonding between either x4's or x3's. they both stuck together fairly tight, because they were both in fewer numbers. I never said Surenos' have no one to bang with because of lack of norteno's, I know they will bang against eachother, against MS13 and against anybody they want since they are the biggest gang in LA. They can afford to fight eachother in LA, but not in the north. And the situation is the same for norteno's in the north when there are many of them and there are no surenos. So in the end as far as the statement that Norteno's stick closer that sureno's, there is some truth to that. But it depends on so many variables and situations that it would take a whole paragraph to explain it properly and that would overwhelm the article at this point. Mabey if the article growns big enough it would be a good idea to add a paragraph about who's bonding and whos not.

Honestly I have not heard anything about Norte in florida or chicago, and it does seem odd to me that someone in these regions would claim a little old gang from northern california. Which leads me to believe that if this is true, you said it is, that these are more likely copycat gangs or not closely tied to the northern structure. It seems to me this is probley an situation similar to crip gangs poping up everywhere in the early 90's, after some huckleberries got thier hands on a rap tape or saw it on tv. But why X4 why not just claim crip like everyone else in thier neighborhood. Well mabey to be different, it would be hard for anyone to disprove wether or not thay are actually affiliated, whereas it could be very easily proved if they attempted to claim GD or VC or local crip. But why not claim sureno? Thats what makes me think there is a reason pushing them towars claiming X4, mabey surenos have begun to arrive and they are simply claiming the opposite in defence. This is not so far fetched as I have been to all of the states in the west out to oaklahoma and minnesota, and mexicans have migrated to every state in some capacity. I was simply amazed when I saw mexicans in South dakota, wyoming and kansas. And these were not americanized norte's, they where southerners and they take thier lifestyles and alliegances with them. But of course your well aware of that. Or mabey a norte relocated and started up a subset in buttfuck nowhere. I really don't know, Thats why I rewrote the sentance the way it is now.

As far as Sureno's up north, from what I've seen they are not that strong in areas where there are norteno sets. In oakland, they have the border brothers, but they stay lowdown out in the black neighborhoods by san leandro. They can't really come into the barrio at fruitvale and they certainly cant come in force or flying thier colors. In fact I lived next door to some sureno's in fruitvale, they had to stay in the house almost all day like little old ladies, and that didn't even save them. They got chased off anyway. the situation with Richmond is that its a black town, there were no mexicans there before the sureno's moved in. Plus its a crip town, so they fit right in with the Blue and the southern sympathy out there. I've known a few norteno's that lived in richmond and they said they just don't talk to anybody out there because its a scurvy town. There are also a few Sureno's in west oakland, but once again that is a slum part of town, even for oakland. Everywhere I've seen a sureno presense around here its either very tentetive or out in an area that nobody wants such as richmond / black ghettos or west oakland. I'm not sure how strong the Surenos are in SF or Sac, But I can imagine that its similar to that fact around here that X4 can resist them but they can't just wipe them all off the earth. Theres too many of them and they just keep coming. Thier numbers seem damn near unlimited. Plus the fact that thier tough little shits, and its really the most X4 can do to hold down the best real estate and keep the Sureno's in local backwaters. I honestly never heard of woodie, I haven't kept up on all these new rappers in awhile. I remember mac dre though, so you say he did a song with a norte rapper about nortenos? thats pretty cool, I got to hear that. Feel free to respond with any opinions. How do I find where this is a response to? I disagree with the Richmond thing. I guess there are "crips" there, but it's not a crip town. Mexicans have lived there for a long time & so have Nortenos. Surenos just ended up being a big thing out there some how.
