Rhode Island Tornadoes[edit]

Hello, I would like to discuss about you editing my additions to the "List of Rhode Island tornadoes" page. I did edit my addition afterwards, but there were 3 confirmed tornadoes in Rhode Island that day. I would know, because I've seen the footage and I was near that area at the time. Hi! According to the National Weather Service, it was all one tornado that had a discontinuous path. If the funnel lifts back up into the air and then drops back down again (but it is still the same funnel), it is considered the same tornado. This is what the NWS said in their statement. (The other 3 tornadoes in Massachusetts were from separate funnels). 216.49.157.170 (talk) 15:34, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the NWS did not say anything about a tornado in the east side of Lincoln and I'm not sure where you're getting that info. The tornado that impacted Mansfield, MA was only on the ground in North Attleborough and Mansfield, MA. 216.49.157.170 (talk) 15:36, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
NWS said it touched down in Lincoln briefly during a report that afternoon after the storm. I have no way of knowing if you listened to the report, though. See, if you are correct and I have made a mistake, please tell me. You can paste your writing back into the page, just plewse let me reword it, as the wording you used was erratic. Thank you. [1]https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=box&issuedby=BOX&product=PNS --> this is the official report from the National Weather Service. This should be used as the source for the information we put on this page. On there it clearly states that there was one discontinuous tornado that struck Rhode Island. Any mention of Lincoln in a press conference was either someone misspeaking, or someone mentioning that some damage would be surveyed there. Either way, the report confirms that there was not a tornado in Lincoln. 216.49.157.170 (talk) 16:16, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay, sorry for the misunderstanding. I watched the live report the afternoon of the storm's occurrence. They mentioned there that people sent pictures and reports of severe tree damage, possibly caused by a tornado. I may have missed a later report saying a tornado was confirmed to not occur that morning in Lincoln. Thank you for reassuring me. C0smoNauticalMile (talk) 16:55, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and by the way, what do you mean when you say in your addition to the page "impacted as an ef1", when it was rated an EF2? I do not recall any mentions of tornadoes switching EF ratings throughout its journey. Can you please explain this, or reword the text to there bring "reports of EF1 equivalent damage"? Thank you. No problem!
That was based off of the NWS report as well. The tornado is rated an EF2 because that is what it was at its peak strength, but by the time it was in Johnston and North Providence, it had weakened to EF1 strength. The area in Scituate along Byron Randall Road was the area impacted at EF2 strength. 216.49.157.170 (talk) 20:44, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OHHH I get it now, that only happened because when it touched down again after briefly coming off the ground, it was weaker. That wouldn't happen if it just blasted through a few towns while always on ground. C0smoNauticalMile (talk) 23:49, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
